Q&A

Q&A published on 1 Comment on Q&A

I figured I’d raised enough questions and it was about time for answers.  Originally, all these things would have been revealed in their own strips with their own gags, but I felt the Q&A format worked best.

On a technical side, the inks for this page came out super quick and easy, but I ran out of time to spend on colors, so things are a bit flat.  Using this comic as a place to experiment and learn is super helpful, and has already increased my speed immensely.

Stay tuned to the Dungeon Crawlers Facebook Fan Page to find updates about the upcoming ANIMATED DUNGEON CRAWLERS.

SLICE!

An even bigger cliff hanger this week!  I don’t want to spoil anything, so that’s all I’m going to say.

On the animated front, I’ve started working with an insanely talented musician to help with some scoring and musical riff type things, and have been plugging in sound effects as I go.  Looks like I should be good to post it early November, if all goes according to plan.  I am super excited for you guys to see it!

This week’s was a bit rushed, hence the cliff hanger and a rushed art.  I didn’t have time to do shadows and such, so I threw a bunch of textures on there to hide it.  I am however super proud of the panel layout and flow, but there is still that part of me wants to go and continue working on it, and the rest of me realizes I need to work on the animation.

That’s right.  A fully Animated Dungeon Crawlers!  If you are out of the loop, here’s what I said last week:

I am hugely excited to finally announce that I am wrapping up the production of a short animated version of Dungeon Crawlers.  This preview was one of the first tests I did to start learning Flash, so the animation and such has improved drastically since then.  I mean take a gander at how cool it’s looking!

If you know me in real life, you may recognize Tyler as the voice of Bo and Mikey as Jasper.  I was pretty jazzed they were so eager and willing to do so!

And don’t fret!  The comic updates will continue to come slowly but surely, as I wrap up this project. Just remember in your hearts that it is due to my time and energy put in to another aspect of Dungeon Crawlers.  The plan is to release it as my 100th comic (10 to go!), so we’re closing in quickly.

Bo must not have read the fine print.

Just another heads up that I am still working on that unannounced Dungeon Crawlers project and hence the slow update schedule for the comic.  Also, I hope to announce exactly what that is soon, but in the mean time, a big thanks to those close to me for giving me feedback and cheering me on to finish it. Vague right?  All will be revealed soon though.

Soon.

The energy drink in this week’s comic is a thinly veiled reference to a rather popular bubbly lemon/lime drink.  I came up with the logo and fell in love with it immediately.  Here it is all nice and vectorized and wallpaper sized if you are so inclined.

I’m even planning on doing a limited run of custom screenprinted shirts, and sell them through Etsy.  Comment below if you are interested in seeing these come to fruition!

Not an actual screenprinted shirt–artistic interpretation.

Dehydrated Blob

I’m pretty happy with the juice fast joke in here, if I do say so myself.  Made me chuckle, and it’s not often that I can do that for myself.

In the drawing of this strip, I went through several far creepier versions of Bo dehydrated.  Trying to create a raisin-like surface, I created this:

I adjusted it for obvious reasons.

Just a Half Day’s Journey…

The boys are almost to Alaqayim, a desert city I created for one of my D&D campaigns.  I try and pull as much as I can from my roleplaying experiences to really liven the comic up, so hopefully there will be more crossovers.

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s been commenting and wondering why there’s been no new content.  I’ve been trying to update every other week, but kind of failing, even at that slow schedule.  The reason behind the slower posting rate is that I am working on something special for the 100th comic coming up, (we’re on like 85 or 86 or something) and it is taking a whole mess of time and resources.  Be patient and goodness will reward you.
