It’s sad to see Lillian go, but it’s exciting to change up the direction of the comic a bit. Their next adventure is going to be a little bit different…

The Mighty Cheetallha
I got to say, it’s a lot of fun drawing wacky critters. I find that I am much better at drawing things that do not actually exist than do.
Sparring
Another level up for these two… they’re starting to become real presentable baddies!
I had a lot of fun with the dramatic colors and shadows on this week’s page… not often I do action with, but I want to start incorporating it more.
Oh… and maybe try clicking on that Store button up there…
Lesson Four
I’ve got a fun announcement around the corner for Dungeon Crawlers, that should play a big role after Bo and Jasper finish their training. Hold on for a little bit longer to find out!
Playing around with different inking brushes on this one… all of the character work was done with another of Kyle T. Webster’s brushes, specifically Kyle’s Inkbox – Sexy Sumi-E. It’s awesome at going from thick to thin, and I didn’t have to adjust the size of the brush once while inking, only my pressure.
Lessons 2 and 3
Back to a bit of a more familiar style artistically here. This was a lot more satisfying to draw as a result… What can I say? I love inks. There’s something to be said about how outlines ground an image.
Come back next week to see them learn their final lesson in fighting for minions.
The Element of…
Surprise!
Again, playing around with a different style here, putting the brushes I bought to good use. This was a real challenge to me… I missed my outlines. It totally changed my workflow for the whole thing, but the end product isn’t too shabby. A fun change. These diversions artistically help me to keep things fresh and somewhat less of an assembly line.
Crickety Claw
First off, thank you everyone who came and visited me at Salt Lake Comic Con! It was an immense success and a great deal of fun. For those of you who missed it, I still have prints available, so let me know if you are interested in purchasing.
I also owe a big thanks to Tyler (in the hat) for grabbing us a booth. I definitely couldn’t have done it alone.
I like that this strip references the Crickety Claw, a throwback to a stupid sounding battle-move that has never been seen until now. It was a lot of fun to draw, especially since I was playing around with brand new brushes! I mean look at how cool this watercolor is:
I found these brushes thanks to JJ Harrison and Derek Hunter who led an awesome panel on drawing comics digitally. They are by Kyle T Webster and they are amazing (the Megapack for Photoshop).
SALT LAKE COMIC CON 2014
Shmowzow! It’s really happening! I will be sharing a booth at the Salt Lake Comic Con with my friend and fellow artist Tyler, of Gregor fame (some NSFW posts), in Artist Alley, booth White 34.
I am the worst at self promotion, but you should probably come and check it out maybe…
I’ll be finally selling level up shirts!
As well as tons of cool prints! Check theeese out:
Manscaping
This is pretty much how my facial hair works… Six months to grow it out and then it just wipes off. Mine’s way patchier though.
In Comic Con news, I just got a whole bunch of STICKERS of Bo and Jasper to sell! I’ll have Level Up shirts, stickers and some cool to be revealed prints!
Before/After
I really like how this comic turned out! It was a lot of fun to draw and I think it actually ended up how I wanted it to.
As mentioned before, I’m getting ready for Comic Con, so stay tuned for more announcements to come!
