Hugged!

Hugged! published on No Comments on Hugged!

Originally I was going to be gone all this week due to busyness with film production, but some craziness interfered and put things on hold for a while.  Lameness for me.

All that aside, the comic was a nice distraction from all the current problems I’ve been plagued with.  I had a lot of fun doing different word type stuff and messing around with their bubbles.  Also, I’m really enjoying drawing things in a combo of Illustrator and Photoshop.  This time around I did errverrything in Illustrator except for the background.

Sorry about no comic last week, but I’m afraid there’ll be more of that sort of thing to come.  I am going to be filming the next few weeks so this is the last one I will have a chance to complete.  I really do apologize, but this comic don’t pay the bills (yet).

On an artistic note, I’m really digging using Illustrator.  It’s sped up my process immensely and made me incredibly lazy.  Once I get more time (ha!) I’ll try and spend more time on the drawing.

Also, don’t you just love these exterior backgrounds?  So much nicer than the dull interiors.

I’m really enjoying drawing these outdoor stuff.  Actually makes it fun to do the backgrounds.

I mentioned that I may have to be taking some time off from Dungeon Crawlers, but I’m trying to power through it, at least for now.  I got two comics done this week since I’ll be out of town all next week.  Through the power of internet time travel, I will post next week’s comic today, but it won’t show up till next week.  See?  That even works thematically with this whole time travel story line.

No time to really write much down here, but I am very proud to have actually completed a comic by Friday.  Just a quick update, I’ll be pretty busy doing some prep work for my movie, but I’m working on how I can get a new Dungeon Crawlers Comic up every Friday.  Not sure how at this point, but I will be making an effort.  Till next time.

2001: A Space Parody (I hate myself for writing that)

I tweeted earlier this week that this was a lame comic and I stand by that.  I also stand by the fact that it makes me smile slightly.

The real purpose of this week though is that I did a great deal of experimenting in Illustrator.  Most of what you see was done in Illustrator and I am maybe starting to think I might maybe like it more than Photoshop.  Then I think about it more and go back to Photoshop.  There’s a lot of benefits to working with vectors, but then there are things that are a chore to do with them.  I think going forward I’m going to try and do more of a combination, which I think will yield a happy medium.

I mean look at how shiny and nice those blobs are!

I originally had a longer strip that progressed the story, but Eric E. and I were talking and came up with this idea and I had to go with it.  The other idea can wait till next week, because I got to draw cool muscle arms.  And yes I did reference my own arm in the mirror, but I dhad to scale back how muscley they’d be in the drawing.  Because my arms are huge and muscley.

One panel… without a joke even really.  Sorry guys.  I have had no time this week, so I redrew a doodle I had made earlier on in the week.  I really want Dungeon Crawlers to have something new each Friday to lock in that consistency.

Wondering what’s been keeping me busy?  Well I may have started some heavy pre-production (and minor production) on a feature film.  And it is very exciting.  Speaking of which, if you’re interested in investing in a promising feature film with good opportunity for return, let me know.
