Boulder Benchpresses

Glad to have found the time for this week’s comic… I’ve been doing prep for the Salt Lake Comic Con and it is kicking my butt!  I want to make sure that there’ll be loads of cool merch to buy, so I’ve been working on some small prints to sell, as well as some other surprises!

Leave a comment if you are going to the Salt Lake Comic Con and let me know what you want to see there!

I wish I’d had more time to spend on the art for the exercises and environment in the gym here, but I really felt bad about not posting enough and was running low on time…

On an exciting note, it looks like I’ll be at this year’s Salt Lake Comic Con in Artist Alley, sharing a booth with my good friend and talented artist Tyler, the writer and illustrator of the webcomic Gregor (some NSFW posts).  More details to come, as I figure out what merch I’ll be bringing, but I thought it’d be fun to start to tease this!

Pick Your Starter

First off, sorry for the delay!  I took a vacation to Chicago with my lovely wife to celebrate ten years together.  It was amazing, but it definitely threw me out of my groove for a while there.

Secondly, I have to give a big shout out to Tarjei for coming up with the name Lillian.  I think it’s a good fit.

Thirdly, thanks for the comments.  Sometimes I don’t realize that people I reading this comic.  When I first started, pretty much the only people reading it were me, Eric, and my mom.  I need to get my ish together and treat this like it’s the real deal now that I actually have a following.  Thank you for that!

Continuing with the Pokemon riff, I had a lot of fun with this strip.  Drawing off brand Pokemon is one of the best things ever.  You should try it.

Monster Masters!

HOLY COW!  I have been having a majorly hard time in getting myself to update.  Sorry for the major (3 week!) delay for this post.  I had a bit of writer’s block, combined with my attention being drawn to another project.  It should illicit some hope in all of you to know that I do already have next week’s comic written at least.

I should also mention that this week’s post is dedicated to Austin, the biggest PokeMaster I know.

This comic took way longer than I originally thought it would.  A huge part of that where the custom drawn frames I did.Comic-105-frame-Lines

Surprisingly, the other thing that took a while was doing the storybook panels.  Yes, they look simple, but I didn’t know what style I was going to go for when I first started.  I did several different tests and trials before settling on the simple cutout look.

I’m happy with how things ended up though, especially all the bright colors.  The storybook stuff really stands out against the other panels.
